"I've always had a vivid imagination and as a child I was known to tell myself stories for hours on end. This year, I started writing my own poems. During the first Corona lockdown which coincided with the cumbersome task of completing my master's thesis, this became wonderful way for me to process my impressions and feelings".

"Although I have decided against a career in the arts, I use creative painting with acrylics to meditate and relax from a day at work. This year, I joined a life drawing course which reignited my love for drawing. At the same time I started reading graphic novels which awakened my interest in illustrating texts".

We are both originally from near Frankfurt, Germany. Although we spent most of our now 23 years (!) of friendship living in different cities and countries we have always stayed in touch. Throughout the years, we supported each other through various personal challenges.
Since then, we have followed very different career paths and yet there is so much that connects us. Back in our childhood days we enjoyed coming up with creative new games, recipes and "missions". There were no limits to our imagination!
Throughout 2020, new challenges have arisen for all of us and we rediscovered our creativity. During a vacation together at Lake Constance in the South of Germany, we experienced how much we enjoy creating art together and inspire each other. In the process, unique ideas often emerge! The combination of our two artistic orientations and the strong desire to support refugees in Europe, the project "Advent Calendar of Solidarity" was born.
